CIMS-GB CERTIFICATION WITH HONORSThe Clean Industry Management Standard (CIMS) was established by experts selected by the ISSA, Worldwide Cleaning Industry Association (formerly known as the International Sanitary Supply Association) in collaboration with the American Institute for Cleaning Sciences (AICS). CIMS, often referred to as the Standard, was established to asses an organization’s management systems and the processes used to deliver service to clients. In order to receive CIMS certification, an ISSA-accredited, third party assessor reviewed our compliance with the six management best practices categories of the Standard:
Green Building, considered the sixth dimension of CIMS, includes the new green standards that have to be met for an organization to earn LEED points. Our CIMS-GB certification indicates that we can help our clients earn points under the LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance (LEED-EBOM) Green Building Rating System. |
Given that Harvard received CIMS-GB with Honors, you can be assured that we will work with you to green your overall operations and be your partner in the LEED process. Our CIMS-GB Certification positions us to help you meet your green goals more efficiently, with consistent, high-quality services that align with the modern environmental requirements of your facilities. About IAQ(VOCs) are emitted as gases from certain solids or liquids. VOCs are emitted from a variety of sources including chemicals, building materials and furnishings, as well as some office equipment; some of which may have short and long-term adverse health effects. Concentrations of many VOCs are consistently higher indoors (up to ten times higher) than outdoors. Harvard IAQ Quality ProgramHarvard Maintenance’s focus on cleaning to improve Indoor Air Quality is an essential part of our Green Cleaning Program, and evidence of our commitment to protecting health without harming the environment. In addition to cleaning techniques that reduce the level of airborne particulates, Harvard’s IAQ program incorporates the use of GreenGuard Certified Environmentally Safe Chemicals. GreenGuard Environmental Institute (GEI) is a non-profit, industryindependent organization that audits and certifies products meeting the EPA and third-party standards for low emission for interior building materials, furnishings and cleaning and maintenance products. |
By selecting GreenGuard certified products, our clients have the confidence that they are providing a safer alternative and protecting the quality of their indoor air, and the health of their building occupants. GreenGuard products that will be used in your facility include:
GreenGuard Certification AuditsFurther, once implemented, Harvard Maintenance will coordinate GreenGuard audits. During these audits, a representative from GreenGuard will inspect your facility to ensure your cleaning products, as well as cleaning techniques, meet GreenGuard standards. These certificates provide collateral documentation in support of your green initiatives. Moreover, Greenguard has been recognized by the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program; using Greenguard-certified products is one measure to obtain LEED-CI (Commercial Interior) credits. |
