At Harvard Maintenance, we view employee development as a business imperative and a reflection of our commitment to the people who deliver exceptional service every day. Through our partnership with the 32BJ Training Fund, employees working in union-contracted buildings have access to a wide range of no-cost educational benefits, including computer and English language classes.

While these offerings are highly valuable, participation can often be limited by practical barriers such as transportation challenges and time constraints, especially when classes are held offsite at colleges or training centers. Recognizing this, Harvard Maintenance identified an opportunity to make these benefits more accessible and impactful for our workforce.

Working collaboratively with the 32BJ Training Fund, our operations teams, and our clients, Harvard helped bring English language classes directly onsite. We coordinated with client partners to secure space within their facilities and carefully scheduled classes at times that worked for both day and night shift employees. The 32BJ Training Fund provided the instructors and curriculum, while Harvard led the effort to create easier access for employees who might not otherwise be able to participate.

This initiative demonstrates the strength of our union partnership and our proactive approach to workforce development. By removing barriers to participation and investing in personal and professional growth, Harvard Maintenance helps employees build confidence, strengthen communication skills, and expand their opportunities for advancement. Our clients have been appreciative of this effort, recognizing that supporting employee growth ultimately strengthens service delivery and reinforces a more engaged, capable workforce.

“Witnessing these individuals confidently express their gratitude in English was a moving experience. Their sense of accomplishment and pride transformed an ordinary night into something truly remarkable. It was evident that the impact of this event resonated deeply with everyone present, leaving a lasting impression on each individual who attended.”
